Role Overview

We are seeking a visionary Systems Architect to lead the design and implementation of our bank’s Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) infrastructure. You will be the technical authority for our next-generation consortium blockchain, ensuring our systems are performant, compliant with HKMA standards, and seamlessly integrated into our core banking ecosystem to support transformative business initiatives like tokenised deposits and cross-border payments.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Architecture & Planning: Own the end-to-end planning of the DLT ecosystem, including network topology, consensus governance, and data isolation strategies, ensuring financial-grade scalability (high TPS) and 99.99% availability.
• Technology Leadership: Direct the platform selection process (e.g., Fabric, FISCO BCOS, Corda) and establish a robust, enterprise-grade lifecycle management framework for smart contracts.
• Business Transformation: Translate complex business objectives—such as trade finance and digital asset custody—into scalable DLT architectures, driving measurable efficiency in settlement and reconciliation processes.
• Regulatory Compliance & Security: Architect privacy-preserving solutions utilizing zero-knowledge proofs and homomorphic encryption, ensuring all designs meet HKMA Supervisory Sandbox requirements and internal AML/confidentiality mandates.
• Core Systems Integration: Architect the interplay between DLT networks and existing core banking systems, risk engines, and payment gateways, ensuring high-integrity data coordination.
• Technical Governance: Lead and mentor high-performing engineering teams by defining coding standards, SRE practices, and incident response frameworks tailored for blockchain environments.

Required Qualifications

• Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Cryptography, FinTech, or related disciplines.
• Professional Experience: 8+ years in system architecture within the financial or technology sector, with at least 1 year of dedicated, hands-on experience delivering DLT or consortium blockchain projects.
• DLT Expertise: Profound understanding of node networking, smart contract lifecycle, and consensus mechanisms (e.g., PBFT, RAFT, HotStuff) with a proven ability to optimize high-concurrency performance.
• Privacy & Cryptography: Hands-on experience with on-chain privacy solutions (TEE, channel services) and Chinese national cryptographic standards (SM2/SM3/SM9).
• System Architecture: Mastery of large-scale distributed systems, including cloud-native design (K8s/Docker), microservices (Spring Cloud/Istio), and disaster recovery planning.
• Banking Stack: Proficiency in legacy and modern data architecture (Oracle/DB2, NoSQL, and messaging middleware).

Preferred Skills & Knowledge

• Domain Expertise: Direct experience in cross-border payments, trade finance, or digital asset custody implementation.
• Regulatory Literacy: Strong familiarity with HKMA initiatives (e.g., Project Ensemble, mBridge) and Basel regulatory requirements concerning crypto-assets and data sovereignty.
