Job Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, and grow a team of consultants and analysts, promoting collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
- Plan and oversee several client engagements simultaneously, ensuring deliverables meet agreed timelines, quality expectations, and regulatory and internal standards.
- Examine and authorize commercial, financial, and shipping documentation to confirm adherence to applicable regulations and compliance requirements.
- Act as the main liaison for key client accounts, cultivating long-term relationships and developing a strong understanding of client operations and priorities.
- Oversee the development and customization of compliance presentations and materials for clients and vendors, ensuring content accuracy and business relevance.
- Coordinate and supervise meetings with trading firms and manufacturing partners, including setting agendas, tracking follow-ups, and documenting outcomes.
- Review, finalize, and manage compliance-related documents such as memos, affidavits, manuals, and meeting records, ensuring proper filing and retention practices.
- Direct the gathering, organization, and verification of supporting documents required for compliance assessments and reviews.
- Lead the analysis and validation of ownership structures and related-party relationships, ensuring findings are complete and well-documented.
- Oversee arm’s‑length pricing evaluations, benchmarking exercises, and transaction risk analyses to determine compliance and eligibility.
- Provide guidance on customs, VAT, and other cross-border trade considerations, addressing regulatory risks associated with international transactions.
- Edit and provide input on internal reports and client deliverables to ensure consistency with leadership direction and client expectations.
- Deliver regular progress updates to clients and internal stakeholders, outlining key issues, risks, and recommended actions.
- Champion operational improvements and contribute to strategic initiatives and ad-hoc assignments as required.
- Travel may be required on an occasional basis.
Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualifications or professional certifications are an advantage.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in compliance, trade advisory, or consulting roles, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated success in team leadership, complex project management, and delivering results in fast‑moving environments.
- Strong capability in reviewing and interpreting commercial contracts, financial records, and shipment documentation.
- Solid knowledge of trade compliance regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven ability to research, interpret, and organize legal and regulatory materials in both Chinese and English.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail when handling documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
