Sonographer (Ultrasound / Ultrasonic Scans)

Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound scans (e.g., abdomen, pelvis, OB/GYN, vascular, breast, musculoskeletal—based on service line).
- Prepare patients for examinations, explain procedures, and address patient questions and comfort needs.
- Operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively, optimizing image quality through appropriate settings.
- Capture and store required images/videos according to departmental protocols.
- Review exam requests for completeness and confirm patient information (as per facility policy).
- Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and timely submission of results/images to the interpreting clinician.
- Maintain radiation/ultrasound safety practices and follow infection control procedures.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness, perform basic troubleshooting, and report equipment issues promptly.
- Adhere to all regulatory, licensing, and clinical governance requirements.
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement and departmental audits.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (or equivalent).
- Current professional certification and required state licensure/certification (if applicable).
- Proven experience performing ultrasound examinations (experience level can be adjusted based on need).
- Strong knowledge of ultrasound anatomy, pathology, and imaging protocols.
- Ability to operate ultrasound systems and related software accurately.
- Excellent patient care skills, professionalism, and strong communication.
- Strong technical competency in image acquisition and patient positioning.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow clinical protocols.
- Compassionate bedside manner and patient advocacy.
- Ability to work independently and also as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective time management and ability to handle multiple appointments.
- Strong critical thinking and sound clinical judgment within the sonography role.
