The Role

A well-established design practice in Hong Kong is looking for an experienced Project Lead to take ownership of architecture and interior design projects from design development through technical delivery and construction.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Directors to translate project vision into well-developed design solutions, while coordinating internal teams, consultants, contractors and clients throughout the full project lifecycle.

This position is suitable for an experienced designer who is confident in project management, technical detailing, client communication and site coordination, and is ready to take broader responsibility for project delivery and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of assigned projects and lead the day-to-day design development, coordination and technical delivery.
  • Work closely with Directors to understand and develop the overall project vision, design direction and client objectives.
  • Develop strong design concepts, narratives and presentations, ensuring that the original design intent is maintained throughout the project.
  • Manage project programmes, schedules, deliverables and priorities to ensure projects are completed on time and to the required quality standard.
  • Lead and coordinate junior designers and team members, providing guidance on design development, drawings and project execution.
  • Lead and participate in client, consultant and contractor meetings, presenting design progress and resolving design or technical issues.
  • Coordinate with external consultants, contractors, suppliers and relevant project stakeholders throughout the design and construction process.
  • Conduct detailed site surveys, site inspections and construction reviews to monitor progress and ensure compliance with approved design intent.
  • Prepare, coordinate and review:
    • Design development drawings
    • Technical and construction drawings
    • Detailed drawing packages
    • Specifications
    • Material schedules
    • FF&E schedules
  • Review shop drawings, samples, materials and technical submissions when required.
  • Identify potential design or construction issues and work with relevant stakeholders to develop practical solutions.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, consultants and suppliers and act as a key project contact.
  • Ensure design quality, technical accuracy and project standards are maintained throughout all stages of delivery.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Interior Architecture or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in architecture, interior design or related project delivery.
  • Previous experience working on Hong Kong projects is essential.
  • Proven ability to independently manage projects through different stages, including:
    • Concept Design
    • Design Development
    • Technical Documentation
    • Tender / Construction Documentation
    • Site Coordination
    • Construction / Project Completion
  • Strong design sense with the ability to develop and communicate clear design concepts and narratives.
  • Strong technical detailing and construction knowledge, with a good understanding of how design solutions are translated into built environments.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing detailed drawing packages, specifications and FF&E schedules.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Previous experience leading or coordinating junior team members would be highly preferred.
  • Confident in communicating with clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
  • Proactive, responsible and solutions-oriented, with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Fluent English is required.
  • Cantonese and/or Mandarin would be an advantage.

Software Skills

Candidates should be proficient in:

  • AutoCAD
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe InDesign
  • SketchUp
  • Enscape

Experience with other architecture, design or presentation software would be an advantage.
