  • 15+ years custodian‑side core custody SME
  • Deep institutional custody and platform experience

We are seeking a seasoned, part-time Senior Advisor with deep global custody & asset servicing expertise for a client's critical multi-year implementation project, providing strategic guidance to C-level executives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic advisory and subject-matter expertise for a major, multi‑year global custody transformation / implementation program.
  • Analyze, design and challenge end‑to‑end target operating models for core custody and asset servicing, including:
    • Trade settlement (multi‑market, multi‑asset)
    • Asset safekeeping and custody controls
    • Corporate actions (mandatory & voluntary)
    • Income collection and tax services
    • Position and cash reconciliation and break management
  • Apply market and regulatory best practices to ensure robust controls, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation across custody and asset servicing processes.
  • Act as a senior liaison and trusted advisor to C‑suite and senior stakeholders, leading high‑level workshops, design discussions and presentations.
  • Review, challenge and validate business and system requirements to ensure they support complex institutional client needs, control frameworks and regulatory obligations.
  • Provide expert input on custody technology platforms (e.g. settlement systems, messaging and connectivity such as SWIFT, reconciliation tools, custody core banking / securities services platforms) and their implications for the target operating model.
  • Partner with operations, technology and product teams to shape and prioritise the custody transformation roadmap, identifying gaps, dependencies and quick wins.

Requirements
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in custody operations, securities services or asset servicing on the custodian / service‑provider side, within a custodian bank, global investment bank or dedicated securities services provider.
  • Proven track record supporting institutional clients (e.g. asset managers, insurance companies, pension funds, sovereigns, global custodians), rather than primarily retail / individual investors.
  • Deep, hands‑on knowledge of end‑to‑end custody and asset servicing processes, including:
    • Trade settlement across multiple markets
    • Asset safekeeping and custody controls
    • Corporate actions processing
    • Income and tax services
    • Position and cash reconciliation, break investigation and resolution
  • Strong understanding of financial instruments (equities, fixed income, funds and listed derivatives) and experience across major global markets (e.g. US, Canada, Europe and Asia, including Japan, Korea and Hong Kong).
  • Solid grasp of regulatory frameworks impacting custody and securities services, such as SEC, MAS, FCA, HKMA, SFC and related local market regulations.
  • Demonstrable experience in large‑scale change within custody / securities services (e.g. system implementations, platform migrations or operating model transformations).
  • Proven ability to engage, influence and present to C‑level and senior stakeholders, with strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with custody and asset servicing technology platforms, such as custody core systems, settlement and messaging platforms (e.g. SWIFT), reconciliation tools (e.g. SmartStream), and portfolio / order management systems from a custody perspective.
  • Direct involvement in custody platform implementations, integrations or vendor selections, working closely with IT and external providers.
  • Fluency in English; Cantonese and/or Mandarin would be an advantage for working with regional stakeholders.
