We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join the HSBC team.


Job Duties:

  • Design, build, implement and run, in conjunction with MSS product and operations, digital assets platforms, services and solutions (including operating models and enterprise grade technology services) to a defined timeline and budget;
  • Be accountable for the DLT team’s engineering performance acting as a CTO to the team;
  • Advise the MSS DLT on how to team to drive results and provide a supportive team environment;
  • Develop and foster new technology talent;
  • Be in regular contact with technology providers, FinTechs, other banks using facets of this technology to ensure MSS stays “close to the market”;
  • Champion MSS’s push into different facets of digital assets technology (including tokenisation and DLT)both externally and internally (speaking at events, blogs, white papers etc.) – demonstrating our innovation and thought leadership in this space;
  • Work with the MSS business to complete and deliver professional proposals and presentations to clients on digital assets;
  • Conduct experiments and PoCs to try out new use-cases and road-test the latest technology;
  • Support the Head of Technology Strategy and the wider MSS Technology leadership team (LT) with guidance on digital assets and associated architecture;
  • Advise the MSS product and operations teams on all aspects of digital assets;
  • Be prepared to challenge the status-quo and the statement “that’s the way we’ve always done it!”;
  • Establish themselves as part of the MSS XLT becoming a trusted adviser to these senior management teams by providing accurate unbiased and timely models that are aligned with both MSS’ technology architecture and the strategy of MSS. Similarly, the role holder needs to become a trusted adviser to both Operations and key Product staff;


Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of digital assets and their underlying infrastructure (e.g. the pros and cons of different types of DLT) and associated risks;
  • Understanding of the mechanics of the MSS business and its asset classes. In particular, a comprehensive understanding of Securities Services is needed;

  • Understanding of the business drivers and dynamics within MSS, including articulating the pressures and trends effecting the industry and its clients which are driving the use of digital assets;
  • Experience in designing complex operating models;
  • Successful track record as a partner and adviser who inspires credibility with senior management;
  • Proven ability to navigate the matrix and partner with colleagues at all levels to drive business growth and customer focused outcomes;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - able to communicate effectively and with confidence across MSS;
  • Strong analytical skills - able to critically consider information from a number of sources, identify material issues, and articulate and present a well-reasoned business case within defined and challenging timeframes;
  • A practical 'hands-on' approach suited to working as part of small team;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills – is someone that people want to work for;
