Normal daily activity involves resolving operational irregularities from trades processing, dealing room staff and external client enquiry.  He/She needs to promptly respond/resolve or make decisions to escalate the issue to Line manager to minimize financial and customer service impact.

Daily supporting hours vary due to volatility of trade volume, system break/issues as well as holiday, Saturday and Typhoon/Black rainstorm days. He/She needs to ensure sufficient support and customer service levels are maintained. 

The jobholder should be aware of the Operational Risk scenarios associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes into account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and industry/market practices. Irregularities should be promptly escalated to management.

The jobholder must adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external identified audit points, including issues raised by the external regulator.

The jobholder will be required to adhere to the Group compliance. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant services law, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.

Key qualities and skills requirements:

 

  • Strong problem solving skills – to effectively resolve day to day BAU operational issues
  • Pro-active and driven – willing to learn demonstrating the ability to learn new or complex processes quickly on routine BAU, Client Efficiency/Post Trade Analytic activities, or project initiatives
  • Client Services - demonstrate the ability to interact with internal/external clients and managing client expectations
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking – understanding the key essence of the process designs and controls
  • Good communication skills with clear and concise articulation of details
  • Subject Matter Experts (optional) - knowledge and past experience in dealing with Global Market products including Precious Metals; and related end to end operational processes and controls will be an advantage  – confirmations, settlements, GL Posting, Nostro/Suspense Account Reconciliations
  • Experience in Precious Metals trading and custody operations is ideal.
  • Experience in middle or back-office operation support is the minimal requirement.
