Responsibilities: 

• The responsibilities of a Hearing Specialist include:
• Interview patients to learn their symptoms and medical histories;
• Conduct screenings and tests to determine the severity and type of hearing impairment;
• Analyze test findings to make diagnoses, then discuss possible solutions with patients;
• Recommend and dispense hearing aids;
• Instruct patients on how to use and maintain the hearing aids, providing demonstrations and information;
• Assist audiologists with nonsurgical procedures designed to treat hearing disorders;
• Modify hearing devices that have already been placed in patients’ ears to make them function or fit better;
• Make Minor repairs (e.g. replace defective parts);
• Teach patients aural rehabilitation techniques;
• Receive continuing education and read professional publications to stay up-to-date on medical knowledge and techniques.

Qualification:

• Secondary 6 or above, with emphasis on science and technology
• Sales or health-related knowledge and experience preferred but not required
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Good commands in Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) and English
